Integrated Self-Defence Training
At Shotokan Karate-Do Richmond, self-defence is an integral part of our traditional Shotokan karate training. Students develop practical skills, confidence, discipline, and respect while learning awareness, control, and real-world application.
For Children: Training is safe and age-appropriate, focusing on awareness, personal safety, confidence, assertive communication, bullying prevention, and controlled defensive movement. Children also build focus, discipline, and emotional control that carry beyond the dojo.
For Adults: Self-defence is incorporated into regular classes, teaching situational awareness, distance management, efficient techniques, and calm decision-making under pressure. Training emphasizes precision and responsibility, making it accessible to all levels.
