三本組手 - Sanbon Kumite

Sanbon Kumite, or "Three-Step Sparring," is an intermediate level of sparring in traditional karate. It builds on the fundamentals learned in Gohon Kumite (Five-Step Sparring) and introduces more complex techniques and strategies.

Sanbon Kumite helps practitioners develop better timing, distancing, and the ability to transition smoothly between offense and defense. Sanbon Kumite involves a set sequence where one practitioner (the attacker) performs three consecutive attacks, while the other practitioner (the defender) blocks and counters each attack. This structured sparring method enhances the technical skills and tactical awareness of both participants.
